Utopia

We told ourselves that we'll have to go to Utopia Cafe next when we were at Frank's Kitchen here since it's was just next door and was pack all night long. And it's voted #3 on blogto The Best Nachos in Toronto list. So after the Food & Wine Expo last week, we headed over. It was full by the time we got there at around 7:00pm (no reservation) and we have to wait at the bar (even more drinks after the Expo). Good thing we came a little bit early, by the time we sat down at the bar, groups of people poured in...

@ the bar waiting :

The bar was right next to the tiny open kitchen, love the colorful plates :

After 15-20 minutes wait as promised,
we got a table at the back and during summer the roof open up as a patio :

Chinese tea cups are used as candle holders... it's just so pretty how the light shine through the dots and I've other restaurant using it too

Order a Caesar while i waited at the bar and then tried their Margarita since every table was ordering it... it wasn't that great =(

Instead of ordering appetizers and an entree each, the 5 of us decided to choose one dish each and share everything.

Lamb Sausage Poutine ~ Merguez Sausage, Brie Cheese & Gravy
It actually taste much better than it looks... disgusting fat yummy mess (o_O)

Utopia Nachos ~ grilled chicken, steak, hot peppers (wish there was more), cheese w/ salsa, guacamole & sour cream on the side. It was huge , even the plate was line with a crispy toasted tortilla.... so good, I could imagine myself going back in the summer just for this nachos w/ a cold beer in the open patio.

Steak Quesadilla ~ marinated grilled striploin, cheddar, monetary jack, green onion mayo & salsa.
This was the worst dish of the night, the shell was soggy... the flavour is there but wish the tortilla was crunchy crispy and it would be perfect.

Homemade Charbroiled Lamb Burger ~ fresh Ontario ground lamb, grilled & served w/ lettuce, tomato, onion, ketchup, mustard, relish, pickle, green onion mayo.
Can you believe it, even the Burger taste great here...

Crispy Chicken Burrito ~ breaded Chicken, cheddar, monetary jack cheese grilled onions, lettuse, green onion mayo & salsa served with mix field salad and Costa Rican rice & black bean.
This was my favorite dish, it was pack to the brim with flavour in the perfect ratio/combination of meat, cheese, salsa...not to mention the little extra like the flavoured mayo (^_^)

Note:
They have various type of soy for meat substitutions.

Verdict:
Love eat-with-your-hand sit-down restaurant... everything was pack with flavour & texture. Will go back for sure, may not be able to wait until summer when the patio opens again.
