Happy New Year

We brave the snow on the 27th after a bit of late boxing day shopping and headed to our reservation for dinner at Lagdon Hall  (post coming up)... It was just so pretty that I just had to brave the cold and take some pictures and btw, this was our view all night long from our dinning table (^_^)

Anyway, just want to wish everyone a Happy Holidays and
 Happy New Year !!!

♥ you all, thanks for all the support
and please note that I corrected my add to http://kikisbff.blogspot.com/

Okonomi House

Ben is the one who found out about this place and decided to bring me there for some cheap eats. The place have been there forever, probably older than most of us and it show since it was pretty rundown.... as I enter the restaurant, I instantly didn't like it since it was old, everywhere was sticky and yucky. There was red lanterns all around the place which result to horrible red pictures (>_<)

Look at the glass, it was so dirty, oily that you couldn't even see through it.
Ewwww (> ~ <)

I don't know why you need to add $0.50 for Bonito flakes and dry seaweed... shouldn't it come with all okonomiyaki??!?

We order 2, one Bacon and one Squid Okonomiyaki.
I would have prefer it to be crispier outside, with more cabbage inside and a tad mushy.
I had better but it was quite acceptable for the limited choice in Toronto... and it's basically cheap eat for around $7 each and it was pipping hot, sort of comforting for cold winter days.

Kimono or Bathrobe ?!?

Once again it's a H&M find and it was only $14 something, it was not even on sale at that... the thing about H&M, it's that you have to take a look at the price tag when you like something and you'll be surprise sometimes since even pieces in the same colection, pricing may varied a lot. There's always a few pieces that are extra affordable (^o^)

This was some sort of Cardigan without any fastening of any sort, very similar to the one I wore here but thicker and it just didn't work for me when worn the same way... so I just tight it up with a belt and turn it into a top (^_^) What do you think?? Any other suggestion to style this top??

Loui`s Kouzina

Loui`s Kouzina is hidden, small Greek family owned restaurant in the plaza at Woodbine and 16th. I can`t believe I never notice this place before since I do come to this plaza for Lunch quite often. They have an open kitchen where you can see all the food being prepare although the counter remind me of take-out places which I bet it is especially during Lunch hour.

I really can't take credit in choosing this place this time =P It was a dinner with two friends who bought their little baby with them, so this was a rather kid friendly restaurant that the pretty mummy choose. The service was very friendly and attentive, the lovely lady keep coming back to see if we were ok although she was by herself and super busy.

Village Salad (small)
Plenty of feta cheese and not overly dressed like most places.

Quails
~ appetizers, 2 quails marinated and grilled to order.

The Burger's Priest

I finally made my way to the much talk about The Burger's Priest on a Saturday 2 weeks ago. I know the place is small but didn't expected it to be that small... the place was packed and the line was through the door (>_<) It was so cold that day, so I was wishing that to grab a seat inside and be able to take some pictures of the pretty burgers but all there was, was a few stools by the wall which are all already taken.... so we end up eating in the car and I swear that the whole car smell of the burger and fries the entire day.

Behind the scene, look at the fresh patties

The Priest
(Cheeseburger + The Option)
As I've mention on my recent visit here to more recently open Holy Chuck, both places have been compared and I understand that a lot of people prefer Burger's Priest better.
The Option (cheese stuffed portobello) was really way better since the stuffing was lighter which made the mushroom itself shine through but it was a mess to eat, dripping everywhere. The burger itself was moist but had a more crumbly texture which didn't have as good texture and less meat flavor packed compare to Holy Chuck's.

Going Skating w/ Mickey & Minnie

What did you do this Christmas... We spend a very quiet Christmas, went out for lunch on Christmas eve and stay home. It was very comforting and relaxing; was just tired of all the partying every year.
It was a good change (^_^)

Shawarma Empire

Saw some of my friends tweet about this place one day and convinced me that it's a must try, Shawarma Empire and I found out that it's name #4 Best Shawarma in Toronto by blogTO. It
is located at Lawrence and Pharmacy which is a bit out of our way... but we went nonetheless on a Saturday for Lunch and it was pack, there was a long line up when we arrive but the staff was very quick and efficient, obvious that they are use to big crowd.
It's more a take out placce although there's a few table available... but the smell of food/meat was so strong that we decided to eat in the car instead.

Yes, two sandwiches for $5.99 only

The topping are really fresh

Feather

This was taken back in November when it was slightly warmer...
I find it more and more difficult to take Outfit pictures since it`s getting colder and I`m always bundle up...  And everywhere is just so pack indoor that I sort of gave up (>_<)

Luma

Just as last year, both me and Ben took a day off on my Birthday and he'll plan a day of surprises for me... sort of since I normally guessed of what he had plan, but this year lunch location was sort f unexpected. We went to Luma since I mention I wanted to go.

I sort of wish we came for dinner or during the summer since the place was very bright, so bright that all the curtain was down. I wish we came at light so we could look out to all the lights on the street and I should probably come back for their rooftop patio during summer.

Chicken Liver Parfait ($8)
~ fruit preserves and baguette croutons
Love the presentation with the pate ins mini skillet and the baguette stacked high.
The pate was divine; smooth, light and pack with tons of flavor. After a quick chat with our waitress, she told us that the chef won quite a few prices for his pate. Even the baguette croutons was oil and flavored really well. And can you believe that was only for $8 and it was more than enough for the two of us to share. That's money well spend.

Shopping Gear

After our yummy lunch here, we headed over to Eaton Center to use up the gift cards that I've got and buy some belated bday / xmas present for myself.
So a coat that's light enough to carry around the mall since it's always so hot in there and of course a super comfy footwear is needed for such an intense session.

Fuel House

I realize on my night having dinner here that Fuel House was just across the street and it`s basically a cute little house that was just adorable (btw, love the stripes). I have heard so many good things about this place that I noted to myself that I'll have to come back very soon. Finally we went this past Sunday for a late lunch before our intense Christmas Shopping (^_^)

Fuel House is small, unpretentious and just downright welcoming.... it's like crashing at a friend's house and he/she is the perfect cook =D

They have a very little sun room at the front that host a very small table which was very cute and perfect if you want some privacy during dinner time, perfect for a party of 6-8 =D

Grand Electric

Grand Electric (@grandelectricTO) opened about 3 weeks ago by 2 Ex-Black Hoofer, chef de cuisine Colin Tooke and front of house manager Ian McGrenaghan. Black Hoof have been one of my fave restaurant so I just have to try it out. But sine I live and work uptown, it's really difficult to go there early enough (no reservation) on weekdays. So I waited for a few more days, arriving at 6:15pm Sunday and the place was already packed given that they open at 6:00pm... and lucky us, we took the last 2 seat available, sharing with 3 other people.

There was no "paper menu", everything from drink to food menu are on blackboards (^_^)
Good luck with that if it's packed and you have bad eyesight (aka Ben, had to read him the menu)

Piggy & Panda

Got these buns at T&T Supermarket the other day, aren't they too cute to eat!?
o(^v^)o
This is my simple and casual look to run errands on the weekend
Can you believe I got this sweater dress from H&M for less than $20, just love how H&M have certain item for less.... what I mean is, for each collection, they always include a few items that are super cheap and affordable... So next time you see something you like, make sure to pick it up and look at the price tag before dismissing it =P
