Inniskillin Winery (Niagara-on-the-Lake ~ Pt 3)

After our lunch plus tasting here and a few more stop here, we proceed to our next stop at Inniskillin Winery since I wanted my dad to try their Ice Wine although both of us are not a big fan of the sweetness.... but it's something that you have to try since when you are in Canada since we have the perfect weather for crafting Ice Wine and Inniskillin have the credit of creating International market for Canadian Icewine. Tried it, didn't like it and he decided not to buy any =P

It's not only great for wine tasting but what a great way to enjoy our beautiful scenery.

Peller, Sunnybrook & Stonechurch (Niagara-on-the-Lake ~ Pt 2)

After our lunch at Southbrook here, we went on to visit more wineries to totally satisfied my Dad... there's just nothing better for a wine lover than to complete the Wine Route at Niagara-on-the-Lake (^_^)  And before you start, it's a good idea to print out a map available here or get one at any Winery or Visiting Center to get an easy view of where all the wineries are.

 1st stop ~ Peller Estate
This is probably the most visited winery in the area, it's always packed and not to mention their award wining Restaurant.... not to mention that they have a great wine pairing tasting menu but just look at this magnificent view (^v^)

Most winery offer free tasting if you end up making a purchase. But at Peller, you'll have to pay for all your tasting although it's at a minimal charge...

This is the place for alternative to grape wine which have all sorts of  fruit wine. And if you have a headache when having regular wine, this is a great alternative. We tried a few glasses here and although we are all not big fan, it was not sweet as I expected like most fruit wine t be.

Southbrook Vineyards (Niagara-on-the-Lake ~ Pt 1)

I'm going to Niagara-on-the-Lake for Taste the Season (a wine and food pairing pass for 26 wineries) this weekend and it reminded me that I haven't posted my weekend trip to the wine country when my dad came from Hong Kong back in June and it happens that I got a Dealicious coupon for a wine tour / tasting/ lunch deal for Southbrook Vineyards.

First we were given a tour....
Southbrook is the first wine estate in Canada to earn both organic and biodynamic certification for it's vineyard and winery. Their building design and construction embraced many green initiatives covering from water management, energy conservation, sustainable material and resources and indoor air quality.

Recycling the collected rain water, the rocks act as a filter system and it also help to cool down the building in summer time.

I have always been bless to live in houses/apartment with our own washer and dryer, therefore I have always been intrigue by laundromat and this is my first time inside one =P

Holy Chuck Burgers

Have already plan to visit Holy Chuck Burgers and I was lucky enough to bump into a TeamBuy deal just a few days before... I'm totally regretting of not buying more than one of the deal after my first bite into their burger =P

The decor is like most fast food places and the only thing that differentiate then was this cute game console but it wasn't working very well when Ben wanted to try it =P

The Wall of frame and shame (>_<), I can see a lot of people finishing this without any problem but in 6 minutes including one of their thick Milkshake??? It's just unfathomable to me !?!?

Oyster Night

I'm an Oyster addict and can basically eat dozens of it =P So me and my friends would organize Oyster Night from time to time, we could go buy a bunch of seafood home since eating out would be too $$$. We have been going to Diana's Seafood to get our Oysters for years because it's fresh, good variety and very affordable (^_^)
 Our Buys for 7 people

Oysters, Oysters & more Oysters
We bought 5-6 varieties, I personally like saltier not as creamy/meaty ones =D

Barque Smokehouse

Last month I've been to the first ever Foodspotting Eat-Up in Toronto, although I am not a member... you ask why, because I'm still using Blackberry (I'm waiting for my 4s) and I feel discriminated by Foodspotting since they don't have app for BB yet =( Anyhow, I can't give up on a food event especially when it's organized by a fellow foodie Mike (@chopstickhero) and since I've been meaning to try out Barque Smokehouse for a while =D

It was a Wednesday and it was pack. Love the bright atmosphere, great for pictures  (^_^)

Mike have kindly arrange for a family style tasting menu and let's just say I had a meat overload (^v^)

Just some photos after dinner last Friday (^_^)

Full House Desserts

This is the place to be if you are a Durian fan, they are the only place in Toronto who serve Durian pudding and Durian pancakes. Yes, king of all fruits =D And I can say that they have one of the best Hong Kong Style pancake in Toronto, it's call pancake but it more like a crepe which is bright yellow in color... don't worry if you are not a fan of Durian, you can still try their mango version which is equally delicious (^v^)

After our pho dinner here, although we were so full we just couldn't resist to get one to go =P

We had to wait for a few minutes when she went to the back and made this while most other places normally have it pre-made... it made a huge difference, it was super extra soft and moist.

Typical of Hong Kong style pancake, it's half fill with cream and the other half with fruits and it's Durian here. It's just so pillowy, creamy, mushy, stinky, heavenly goodness =D

Verdict :
Have been coming for years and will keep on coming back

Great Burger Kitchen

Bought a deal from Groupon back in May for Great Burger Kitchen at the Church St location and haven't had the opportunity to use it until September. Heard some good things about this locally source burger place and I was having rather high expectation =P

I order the Burger of the Day

Foodstock ~ Stop the Mega Quarry !!!

Back on Oct 16, Michael Stadlander (Haisai) had spearheading a farm-based food protest called Foodstock and it's a pay-what-you-can culinary rally against a proposed limestone mega quarry on prime agricultural land. More than 80 members of the Canadian Chefs' Congress was enlisted to cook at the event, including celebrity chefs like Jamie Kennedy, Anthony Walsh (Canoe) and Brad Long, as well as chefs for various popular Restaurants such as Parts & Labour, Enoteca Sociale, Buca and now closed Sakura.

It was cold a windy day and I was sure glad that we got each of us a pair of rainboot since it was so muddy. This is definitely the best food event of the year, normally an event of this calibre would cost over $100 per person but it was pay-what-you-can (minimum of $10)

They highly recommend you to bring your own plate and cutlery to cut down on waste.
Look at this inventive method of serving soup =D It was so hot, dense, creamy and delicious that it warm you right up... what a great start.

Briscola

Went to Briscola back in September and loved it. I was trying to find a location for my Birthday dinner next month and I end up choosing Briscola since they have a big enough space, yet affordable menu for my guest. It's always such a hassle to get a reservation for a large crowd during the holiday seasons at a restaurant that you like, so this year I plan in advance. And that's why I'm writing this post, to give my friends an idea of what they are going to be eating on my Birthday (^v^)

♥ Love their decor ♥

Waving flags

I bet you must have guess where I was, it was outside Better Living Center... took these photos after visiting the Delicious Food Show (post coming up)

Williams Landing

Went to Williams Landing, one of the new restaurant that poped up in Liberty Village for a late lunch and it was a surprisingly summer weather day for the end of September in Toronto. It was actually hot sitting on their patio (^_^) This will be a pretty short post since we ordered only 2 dish since we only wanted a light lunch since we make reservation for an early dinner later on.

♥ the display of all the alcohol

This sort of reminded me of Joey from my previous post here, maybe because all roof top patio are sort of similar these days.Similar but not as pretty (oh did I mention, Joey have very pretty waitresses)

Don't really remember the name of this cocktail and they don't have it on their online menu.
I do remember how it taste thou, sour not sweet, strong alcohol flavor and with each sip cruch a bit of pink peppercorn with it and it was just perfect =P
