Can Solé [Seafood - Barcelona Spain]

Can Solé (@CanSole_1903) was founded back in 1903 as an Fisherman tavern at the Barceloneta port, it is tucked away on a narrow side street with not sea view whatsoever. La Barceloneta area have recently been transform into a beach /port-side playgrounds for visitors, so I was surprise that there's still such authentic and old restaurant on the side streets from the beach.

The decor is minimal and very old schooled with white table cloth and photos of celebrities who've visited over the years. I was surprise to see an open kitchen where you can see all the cooking taking place.

Although their main clientele are locals, come of the staff still understand English which makes our lives so much more easier.

Nuvol - D.O.Montsant, Bodegas Edicionsi Limitadas 20.50
~ 90% Granatxa Blanca, 10% Macabeu
Not very familiar with Spanish wine at all, especially their white so we asked for recommendation and our waiter kindly suggest this bottle. It paired really well with our seafood feast with floral peach tropical notes which was very refreshing and lively.

Anglerfish Soup
We had a fish soup earlier on our trip and we love it so much that we decided to order soup once again and decided to share one since we were afraid not being able to finish the filling Paella afterwards.... but it came out in a large serving bowl and we each got a few generous scoop each and it was packed with all kind of seafood. This was so flavorful

Paella
We have been living off tapas for days with mostly bread and our inner Chinese was craving for some rice, this was the perfect way to satisfy our cravings yet still enjoying local cuisine. Our server came by our table to show us the paella and then bought it back to be divided into two plates for us. Wish they would have left it at the table for us to dig in ourselves. The shrimps was a big mushy but otherwise everything was perfect and so flavorful.

We each got a huge plate like this which was super filling.
I have never had Norway Lobster/Langostines before my trip to Spain, it's that langoustine/prawns with the claws which kinda look like a mix of shrimp and lobster.

Verdict :
Love it here, it's like a culinary time capsule here,
Love the traditional big hearty dishes that probably haven't changed in decades.
Wish we ordered the rice broth (arròs caldòs) instead since haven't really seen it at other restaurant we have been on the rest of our trip.
